Canary Audio Canary Audio is an American company that manufactures a full line of high-end audio electronics and accessories. Making quality music is their only business. |
The Canary Philosophy:
Canary loves music. They love music best when it brings out the things they love when
they hear it live. Orchestras sound big with well defined sections that together produce
enough color to make Picasso blush. Rock shakes up your insides so those rolling stones
become 24-carat jewels. Jazz has the pace and clarity to reveal what kind of blue you're
mastering. Just like there are no shortcuts to Carnegie Hall, Canary Audio believes every
audio shortcut has a cost. Instead of "practice, practice, practice", they "listen, listen,
listen" and pay attention to what they hear. Canary wants you to hear the sounds that
nature intended.
This is what Canary found:
In fifty years, the formula for good sound hasn't really changed. It's the execution both
in the design and the manufacture that has changed. You have to be willing to build
carefully and maximize the strengths as well as minimize the weaknesses of your design
choices. Once you did, you then have to fight the temptation to use the highest quality
parts and components or to shave a couple of dollars in parts costs to make a profit. In
fact, Canary may be one of the few high-end companies who don't claim to be geniuses.
Instead, they are committed to just getting it right.
We do not take shortcuts:
All Canary products are built around the highest quality parts and components with the
use of highest quality capacitors, 2% metal film resistors, carefully matched tubes, Teflon
coated silver point to point wiring, and custom wound ultra-high quality power and
output transformers. Even the 24 positions stepped attenuators used in their dual mono
preamplifiers are hand built by their engineers. Some of the parts are five to ten times
more expensive than what other manufacturers consider as an adequate alternative.
Canary does not take shortcuts with their parts because they found out that the careful,
educated listener can hear those shortcuts.
Canary's Craftsmanship:
You will also notice that Canary takes care in the way it puts together those parts.
Boards are placed just so. Wiring is done in neat straight runs. Solder joints are shiny
and beaded. All done in the best traditions of American craftsmanship. Canary also
recognized that it is not just about sound. The chassis are made of thick steel. The
aluminium front and rear panels were CNC milled and grained before anodizing. The
custom made gold plated binding posts never shift as you lock on your cables. Yes,
mechanical stability does affect the sound, but Canary also understands that the power
amp or preamp is the one piece of equipment you will touch on a regular basis. The look
and feel are part of the experience of having a fine audio system. At Canary, they want
every detail to count.
